Hello everyone, today Dole Chemical will tell you some simple classifications of commonly used fire retardants. Fire retardants are individually called flame retardants, which are a kind of medicament for retarding the spread of flames. Because of the good fire prevention effect, they are now widely used in various industries. The main working principle is to generate the following non-flammable gas or pharmaceutical film through the pharmaceutical, so as to achieve the purpose of safety and fire prevention. According to different classification standards, fire retardants can be divided into the following categories:
1. Division by flame retardant elements
According to the flame retardant elements, fire retardants can be divided into phosphorus flame retardants, nitrogen flame retardants, halogen flame retardants, phosphorus-halogen flame retardants, and phosphorus-nitrogen flame retardants. Among them, the phosphorus-based flame retardant generates phosphoric anhydride or phosphoric acid through combustion, which causes dehydration and carbonization of combustibles, and slows or stops the generation of combustible gases. Phosphoric anhydride is produced by pyrolysis, covering the surface of combustibles with a glassy melt, which converts combustible gas into carbon dioxide, thereby playing the role of fire prevention and flame retardant. Phosphorus-halogen flame retardant and phosphorus-nitrogen flame retardant mainly achieve the better flame retardant purpose through the synergistic effect of various substances.
2.Division by component
According to different components, fire retardants can be divided into organic salt flame retardants, inorganic flame retardants and organic and inorganic mixed flame retardants. The main products of organic flame retardants are halogen-based, phosphate, and halogenated phosphate. Inorganic flame retardants are the most widely used class of fire retardants. Its main components are inorganic substances. Application products include aluminum hydroxide, diammonium phosphate, ammonium chloride, magnesium hydroxide, monoammonium phosphate, and boric acid. . Organic and inorganic flame retardants are new products improved from inorganic salt flame retardants. They are often used in water-insoluble organic phosphate ester emulsions and partially replace inorganic salt flame retardants.
3. Divide by usage method
According to the method of use, the fire retardant can be divided into reactive type and additive type, of which the additive type fire retardant is dominant. Reactive fire retardants are used to introduce flame retardant groups in polymer materials through chemical reactions, thereby improving the material's flame resistance, preventing the materials from being ignited and inhibiting the spread of flames. Additive flame retardants play the role of fire retardant by adding flame retardants to combustibles.
