Differences between halogen-free flame retardants and halogenated flame retardants
Announcer:道尔  Date:2020/1/10 9:11:54  Views:352

Different flame retardants should be developed in a balanced and coordinated manner to play their respective important roles in fire safety. Both halogen-free flame retardants and halogen-based flame retardants have different properties, advantages and disadvantages, and application fields. Today I will briefly introduce the difference between the two!

Halogenated flame retardant refers to a flame retardant mixture composed of a halogen-containing polymer or a halogen-containing flame retardant. It mainly includes antimony trioxide and decabromodiphenyl ether, which is also commonly referred to as a bromine antimony flame retardant. Bromine antimony flame retardant has excellent flame retardancy and has been widely used as a material for blocking olefins. However, when a fire occurs, such materials made of halogen-containing flame retardants will generate a large amount of smoke and toxic corrosive hydrogen halide when heated, causing secondary hazards. China's flame retardant performance levels and national standards have many of the same characteristics as the new standards in Western Europe, that is, the flame retardant performance is judged by emphasizing the rate of fire development, heat release, smoke generation, and the corrosion and toxicity of combustion products standard. In order to pass such new standards, the traditional halogen-based flame retardant materials such as antimony trioxide will be powerless.

Halogen-free flame retardants are mainly phosphorus-based compounds and metal hydroxides. The new flame retardant system has a small amount of smoke during combustion and does not produce corrosive and toxic gases. Halogen-free flame retardant is a high-performance phosphorus-nitrogen-based organic flame retardant, which is a triazine trione compound and a triazine triamine compound. After special surface treatment, it is easy to disperse in plastic materials. Precipitation, with good flame retardant effect.
